The Ministry of Planning granted the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control a patent for two lecturers from the Laser and Optical Electronics Department at the University of Technology. Khaled Salem Shabib and Prof. Mohamed Abdel Wahab Manshid and Prof. Zainab Ayad Mousa and R. Senior Engineers. And Ali Abdul Sattar Saleh for a new way to assess thermal damage in tissues using laser.

A graduate student from the Department of Control and Systems Engineering at the University of Technology Hussein Mohammed Badr received a master's degree for his thesis:

"Effective Control of Disruption of Nonlinear Dynamic Systems"

In this thesis, the researcher examined the design and analysis of the ADRC methodology for control and rejection of two nonlinear systems: the Maglev magnetic field and the flexible joint arm system (f.R) based on the ADRC structure. Two types of control method were considered, Effective linear and nonlinear reduction of linear disturbance.

These two types of control were compared in terms of the robustness of the control with the variation of the parameters and the ability to reject the applied disorders. This was attended by the President of the University of Technology Prof. Amin Douai Thamer.

The discussion committee was represented by Prof. Safana Rahat as President and Chairman of the Board. Prof.  Abdul Rahim Dhi Hammoud and Prof. Zaker Mahmoud Nayel members and Amjad Jalil Hamidi \ member and supervisor.

Electrical Engineering  Department at the University of Technology held a seminar entitled "Developing Entrepreneurship Skills in the Iraqi Higher Education System" on Wednesday, 13/3/2018 at the Degla Hall in the presence of the Head of Department, Prof. Dari Yousif Mahmoud, scientific and administrative assistants and heads of scientific branches And a number of Lecture staff.

On the episode in which he gave the Prof. Uday Ali Ahmed Lectur. Hussein Khudair Sayed lecture to develop the skills of students in the third stage in the field of entrepreneurship in order to work on entrepreneurship projects as graduation projects instead of working on traditional projects that do not cover any need in the Iraqi market.

Through this project, some of the students will be able to turn graduation projects into work opportunities and market them to the Iraqi market as they cover a community need. The unemployment rate of the new engineers will decrease, as well as solutions to some of the community problems.

At the end of the seminar, the discussion and answers to questions and inquiries were opened.

The patent involved finding the depth of damage in tissues resulting from the use of laser. The experimental depth of damage was used to compensate tissue for CO2 laser to find equation constants used to estimate the damage zone in heat exposed tissues (Arenios equation).

Three types of cattle tissue were selected to measure the area of damage that is the muscles, lungs and brain after compensating for the high-density laser which caused the damage of these tissues and it was proved that the constants of the Enios equation obtained from the analysis of the depth of damage caused by laser tissue compensation are very close to those that were Obtained from tissues using another source of heat and published in international journals.

Assc.Prof.Dr. Niven Jamal, Lect.Dr. Ahmed Amed, lect.Aseel Mahmood and Assc.Lect.Sahar Hussein all from Materials engineering department at university of technology and Lect.Dr.Higran ZenAl-Abdeen from product and minerals in cooperation with Dr. Hussein Mohamadi from General Company for Steel Industries and lect.Dr. Mohammed Modafer from Al-Qadesiya University has participated with tow researches in the fourth Iraqi Conference for Oil and Gas which was held on Oil Cultural Center in Basrah. The lecturers have participated with tow researches; the first research is entitled Evaluation of the effect of the external diameter of the oil transport tube on the voltage of cathode protection.

The study deals with covering the outer diameter of the oil transport pipes which were treated with a layer of silica powder and silica ethyl as a bond material and a study of the effect on the cathodic protection current. A theoretical analysis of the required current for cathodic protection was carried out to protect a 10 km long oil pipeline and 6 inch diameter.

The second study is dealing with the effect of low temperature on some properties of the internal coating layer of liquid gas storage containers made of steel. The study examined physical properties such as shrinkage, adhesion strength, thickness of the aluminum powder coating layer and silica sulphate as bonding material. The results showed that the coating was characterized by excellent resistance at low temperatures and was non porous to liquid gases such as propane, methane and nitrogen.
