The Ministry of Planning granted the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control a patent for two lecturers from the Laser and Optical Electronics Department at the University of Technology. Khaled Salem Shabib and Prof. Mohamed Abdel Wahab Manshid and Prof. Zainab Ayad Mousa and R. Senior Engineers. And Ali Abdul Sattar Saleh for a new way to assess thermal damage in tissues using laser.

The patent involved finding the depth of damage in tissues resulting from the use of laser. The experimental depth of damage was used to compensate tissue for CO2 laser to find equation constants used to estimate the damage zone in heat exposed tissues (Arenios equation).

Three types of cattle tissue were selected to measure the area of damage that is the muscles, lungs and brain after compensating for the high-density laser which caused the damage of these tissues and it was proved that the constants of the Enios equation obtained from the analysis of the depth of damage caused by laser tissue compensation are very close to those that were Obtained from tissues using another source of heat and published in international journals.
