Construction and building engineering department grants the MSC to the student Majid Hameed for his dissertation "Cost optimization During Design Stage in school Buildings Projects Using Value Engineering"

The researcher found that the optimal cost for the school projects using the technique of value engineering by highlighting the role of design and standards and determining the weights of those standards according to the Iraqi construction environment. To achieve the goal of the research, data were collected on the subject of value engineering and design process and impact on the cost of school projects and the most important design criteria for performance requirements, construction ability and sustainability criteria.

The results of the questionnaire showed that the highest priority was given to the performance criterion which obtained 21.75% and the lowest priority for the standards of water use efficiency and sustainable sites, which achieved 6.38%

The discussion committee was chaired by Assc.Prof.Dr.Raad Salem and Assc.Prof.Dr.Esam Handawi as a member and Lect.Dr.Tariq Abdul-Majeed as a members and lec.Dr.Afrah Mohameed as a supervisor.

Material engineering department at the university of technology grants MSC to the student Shafaq Yahya for her dissertation "---------------------"

The researcher presents the manufacture of a polyvinyl alcohol-conductive polymer, which is one of the insulation materials by electrophoresis method. Polyimeric solution (polyvinyl alcohol) was prepared with different proportions of copper chloride, nanocrystalline nanoparticles, nanoparticles, polyniline and nanotubes) as additives for the preparation of polymer bond and its effect on chemical structure, conductivity and mechanical properties.

The study (electrical conductivity, viscosity and surface tension) showed the resulting solutions. and also it showed the increased electrical conductivity with an increase in the ratio of additives to these solutions, while the viscosity and surface stress of the same solutions, except for polyvinyl / copper and polyvinyl alcohol / Electrostatic viscosity and surface tension with increased ratio of additives.

The discussion committee was chaired by Prof.Dr.Qusay Fadhil /UOTand the membrance of Assc.Prof.Dr.Ammar Emad/ university of Babil and Lect.Dr.Manar Abdul-Jabbar/UOT. Assc.Prof.Dr.AkramRahim and Assc.Prof.Dr.Majid Hameed both are from University of Technology as supervisors. Prof.Dr.Zuhair Jabbar from university of Karbalaa as a scientific reviewer and Assc.Prof.Dr.Samir Ali from University of Technology as a linguistic reviewer.

Within the  scientific and cultural activity for the second semester of the Department of Chemical Engineering for the academic year 2017-2018 at the University of Technology, high studies student Saif Salih presented his lecture titled " Desalting High Saline Oilfield Produced Water Using Membrane Distillation" in Al-Khawarizmi Hall in the  department with the attendance of the head of the department Assc.Prof.Dr. Jamal Mana , both scientific and administrative deputies Assc.Prof.Dr.Khalid Ajmi and Assc.Prof.Dr.Walaa Abdul-Hadi , heads of  branches and the faculty.

The student In this study showed that  the membrane distillation is a thermal separation involving the transfer of vapor molecules through water-resistant porous membranes. In this work, polymers made from mixing polymer, polyvinyl chloride and polyethyl acrylate. This mixture was prepared by using free thrombolysis of ethyl acrylate in the presence of polyvinyl chloride and the spine was vaccinated for polyvinyl chloride with ethyl acrylate. The effect of the reaction time was studied at the following time (6, 4, 3, 2, and 1) hours. The success of the vaccination reaction and the reduction of the chlorine percentage of polyvinyl chloride were confirmed by using the infrared spectrum as well as the diffused x-ray of energy. The contact angle was adopted as a criterion for selecting the resulting mix at each reaction time. After selecting the best time of one hour, three samples of the membranes were prepared (12%, 14%, 16%) of the polymerized polyolefin In addition, three samples were produced with the same proportions of polymerized polymerized polymerized polymerized polymerization.

Students visit Iraqi Museum

Second stage students of Control and Systems Engineering Department at the University of Technology and a number of teachers visited the Iraqi Museum affiliated to the Authority of Tourism and Antiquities to identify the historical and cultural heritage to the civilization of Mesopotamia (Iraq).

The participants praised the initiative by the presidency of the department, which is rooted in the memory that Iraq is a worthy civilization and we have to  preserve it and to start building new civilizations for future generations, and this is only with the participation of all experiences, especially engineers
