Oil Technology Department holds seminar

The Registration and the Documentation Divisions of the Department of Petroleum Technology at the University of Technology held a seminar to present the new electronic system, the seminar was hold on the conference hall with the presence of the head of the department Prof.Dr.Aqeel Shaker, both scientific and administrative deputies Asst.Prof.Dr.Adeel Shareef and Asst.Prof.Dr.Raid Naeem, head of the division Asst.Prof.Dr.Ahmed Abdul-Ridha and a number of department staff.

The Director of the Registration Division Saif Emad Abdul Razzaq showed the importance of the new system by searching the files of students at high speed and knowing the curriculum vitae of all students at a certain stage and certain academic year determined by the user. The program also includes statistics for the accepted students for all academic years, gender of the student (male and female), the number of applicants, the names and the names of the defendants, the disqualified, and the successful since the establishment of the Department until this year.

The system also includes an electronic record and the installation of the administrative track of the document, the ability to make statistics for documents and complete within one month only or a period that can be determined by the employee.

Experimental-Theoretical Study Seminar

Within the scientific and cultural activities of the second semester of the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Technology for the academic year 2017-2018, the master student Zainab Abdul Amir present a seminar entitled " Static and Dynamic Study of Nitrate Anion Adsorption from Aqueous Solution using Different Adsorbents" on Al-khawarizmi Hall in the presence of the head of department Asst.Prof.Dr.Jamal Mana, both scientific and administrative deputies Asst.Prof.Dr.Khalid Ajmi and Asst.Prof.Dr.Walaa Abdul Al-Hadi and number of faculty.

The student explained in this study the assimilation process of three phases in this work. The experimental work was carried out in the Perspex column with a diameter of 0.092 m and a height of 2 m using the Teflon plate as a distributor containing 42 circular derricks and a circular hole of liquid that was placed at the bottom of the column to study the effect of gas speed, Solid material on both residual gas, liquid and solids, diameter of bubbles and speed of bubbles.

Kerosene and water were used as continuous phases, and air was used as a dispersion phase. The glass beads were used in the diameter of 0.0038 m, the density of 2247 kg / m3, the helping factor from the kerosene treatment reactor located in the sump filter at 0.0025 m, and the density of 2070 kg / m3 as a solid phase. And pressure readings for different speeds of gas and liquid. Surface velocities of liquid and gas are (0.025 m / s - 0.65 m / s) and 0.005 m / s - 0.04 m / s respectively. Various operating variables include speed of gas and liquid, liquid type and particle dimensions. The CFD results were verified from the dynamic characteristics obtained from the simulation with the experimental results using anisys flonte 16.0. The yulian multi-stage particle flow approach was used to predict the overall performance of gas and liquid gas.

Continuing Education Center at the University of Technology organized a course on the programming PLC Siemens analog digital type bout  language of Ladder for the period 19/2 - 30/2/2018 with the participation of trainees representing the staff of the General Grain Trade Company.

The course aims at programming PLC type analog digital Siemens in Ladder language.

The program included the definition of the PLC schematic diagram, the structure and description of its work, the classification of digital and analog input devices and its relation to the industrial computer, the knowledge of the programming languages ​​of the logical controller, the method and conditions of establishing a program in Ladder language, identification of the technical specifications of the digital and analog input and output units, Methods of definition, naming and naming of numeric variables, types of data used in the  ladder program and methods of processing them, creation of FC and OB, implementation of BIT-LOGIC application programs using Semantic manager step7-300, Its operations input and output analog data in the control systems using controlled programmer plc, identify the specification and installation of units convert analog signals, writing and implementing a program to control rapidly 3PH-A.C drive through the device frequency and voltage with protection from high-speed adapter control.

The lectures were given by  Assis. Prof. Azad Rahim Karim and Eng. Abbas Abdel Wahab Mohammed Rida from the Department of Control and Systems Engineering.

Standard Documents Course

Continuing Education Center at the University of Technology organized a  four-days course on standard documents in the administration of government contracts and tenders with the participation of trainees representing various departments of the State presented by Asst.Prof.Dr. Sahira Abbas from Electromechanical engineering department,Asst.Legal consultant Mohanad Raheem and Qahtan Abdulaah. The aim of the course is to spread the legal and contractual culture to the governmental authorities and inform the government authorities about the latest developments related to the implementation of contractual procedures and raise the level of all employees in the field of government contracts.

The course provides the trainees with the program and the scientific material related to the syllabus of the course, using visual, audio and written means to implement the program.
