Civil Engineering Department Grants MSC

Civil engineering department at the university of technology grants MSC to the student Hiba Sami for her thesis "Preparation of Nano – coating for solar cell as prevent the weather contamination". The research aims at preparing a thin layer of nanoparticles for nickel oxide with high photocatalysis properties to be used as a transparent, self-cleaning nanotube for solar cells to prevent the deposition of dust and air pollutants onto solar cells on the street, thereby reducing their efficiency over time.

The discussion committee chaired by Asst.Prof.Dr.Hatim Assal, Asst.Prof.Dr.Gathwa Abdulkareem and Asst.Prof.Dr.Zainab Bahaa as members, Prof.Dr.Riyad Hassan and Prof.Dr.Adawiya Jumaa as supervisors.

Computer Sciences Department Grants MSC

Computer Sciences Department at University of Technology grants MSC to the student Asmaa Abdullah for her thesis "Authentication System Based on Hand Writing Recognition"

The researcher showed that Authentication is one of the most important information security objectives that aim to protect certain properties from illegal access.   Handwritten words have retained its place and the problems of identification and authentication of the writers have been an active area of research over the past few years. Compared to the electronic or printed text, the handwritten words carry additional information about the personality of the person who has written. In this thesis a proposed authentication system based on combining Arabic word handwritten recognition and visual cryptography.

The discussion committee chaired by Prof.Dr.Matheel Emadaldeen, Asst.Prof.Dr.Rana Fareed from University of Technology and Asst.Prof.Dr.Shaker Kadhim from University of Thiqar as members, Asst.Prof.Dr.Alyaa Kareem and Lect.Dr.Bashar Sadoon as supervisors.

Production and materials engineering department at the university of technology grants MSC to the student Gwan Yassen for her thesis "The effect of calcination on the failure of blades of electric fans"The results showed an improvement in the calcination of the metal used after laser pelleting and laser slapping compared with the base metal. After 20 minutes of pellet tossing, the pellet level was 220 MPa higher than the metal weight after pelleting of the pellets for 10 and 30 minutes. However, 240 MPa is higher than the laser cutoff with two hits and three multiples. This improvement in the weight of the bucket attests to the decay in the macrophages due to the effect of the corrosive environment in addition to the periodic loads. The discussion committee chaired by Prof.Dr.Hussein Jassim , Asst.Prof.Dr.Ali Akbar from University of Technology and Asst.Prof.Dr.Sarmad Talib from University of Al-Nahreen as members, Asst.Prof.Dr.Sami Ibrahim from University of Technology as supervisor, Asst.Prof.Dr.Falah Kefi from University of Babil as scientific reviewer and Asst.Prof.Dr.Farooq Lutfi from University of Technology as a linguistic reviewer.

Environmental research center at University of Technology hold a seminar on "Effect of Internal Combustion Engine Exhausts on Air Pollution"

Asst.Lect.AbdulRahman Shaker showed that The increase in the use of means of transport such as  aircraft, ships, trains and cars have greatly contributed to the movement service of man facilitate and use of time. However, this important development led to the emergence of many problems and adverse consequences on human health and all living things and the environment, as a result of pollution from these means, especially exhaust emissions of engines. He added that internal combustion engines of all types and uses constitute a major source of air pollution because of the harmful emissions of these engines which have negative effects on humans and other organisms.
He also pointed out that the most important of these emissions are nitrogen oxides (NOX), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), unburned hydrocarbons (HC)and smoke. Also, the most important environmental effects of fuel combustion products are global warming and acid rain, which lead to the elimination of biodiversity and causes many diseases in humans, there are several ways to reduce exhaust emissions while maintaining engine performance, he said. Some of the engine parameters such as compression ratio, exhaust gas recycling, injection timing and injection pressure are changed. Biodiesel can also be used in different proportions and mixed with pure diesel fuel, as well as the addition of some chemicals to fuel, all of which help reduce emissions and thus reduce air pollution.

Continuing Education Center at the University of Technology organized a specialized training course on water treatment of steam boilers with the participation of trainees from the ministries of the state.

The course aims at introducing the engineers and operators in the steam boiler unit to the most important problems in steam boilers, as well as the definition of the methods of water treatment boilers, as well as the latest methods and techniques used globally to improve the efficiency of steam boilers.

The course included the problems of steam boilers, corrosion in pipes, water treatment of steam boilers, as well as modern techniques used to improve the functioning and performance of steam boilers. The lecture was delivered by Rakeem Ismail from the Department of Electromechanical Engineering at the University of Technology.
