Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Technology discussed a PhD dissertation and tagged "Modeling and simulation with control system design for direct injection engines"
Dissertation of (Omar Mohammed Yousif) dealt with two sections. The first one dealt with simulating a four-stroke, four-cylinder engine operating with direct injection and studying the effect of several parameters, namely the diameter of the fuel injector nozzle, the number of fuel injector nozzles, fuel injection pressure, engine speed, compression ratio, temperature of the air entering the combustion chamber, and the throttle ratio at the start ignition on performance and emissions using MATLAB
The second section touched on the simulation and practical design of the electronic control system to control the operation of the ignition coil and spark plug, control the operation of the fuel injector, control the start of injection and the duration of injection, as well as control the operation of the intake valve and exhaust valve, using the Simulink platform and a microcontroller (Arduino), where the electronic control unit consists of two parts. There are two foundations: control unit and output and conversion unit, which converts the signal coming from the control unit into the signal required to operate the aforementioned elements.
