The Women's Affairs Unit organizes an awareness workshop

  Titled: “Together to create an environment that rejects abuse of women.”

The Women’s Affairs Unit in the Department of Electromechanical Engineering at the University of Technology organized an awareness workshop entitled “Together to create an environment that rejects abuse of women” in Al-Kindi Hall, with the participation and hosting of Prof.Dr Iman Saleh, and in the presence of a number of the department’s teachers and students in Al-Kindi Hall.

The workshop, prepared by the Women’s Affairs Officer, Assistant Professor Dr. Asifa Mahdi Muhammad, and delivered by asst.L. Lamia Hussein, aimed to define the environment that rejects abuse of women, which is represented by the totality of acts that include simple violations and severe harassment, against women. 

The workshop included several topics, including: defining verbal abuse as aggressive behavior issued by a person who intends to attack the dignity and freedom of the victim woman without her consent, abuse through social media networks, the phenomenon of electronic harassment that has begun to spread through electronic media, and defining the laws of harassment under the Penal Code. Iraqi No. 111 of 1969, effective amendment.

The workshop also recommended the need to create a committee to follow up on harassment via the Internet.
