The Environmental Research Center receives a delegation from the Materials Engineering Department on a scientific visit

 

The Environmental Research Center at the University of Technology, represented by the director of the center, Professor Dr. Zainab Bahaa Muhammad, and a number of the center’s lecturers staff, received a delegation from the Materials Engineering Department at the university, represented by students from the Materials Engineering Department - Polymer and Petrochemical Engineering Branch, fourth stage, on a scientific visit and under the supervision of the teachers in the department. Dr. Nevin Gamal Abdel Qader and Dr. Hana Arir Smej and Eng. Aseel Mahmoud Abdullah.

The visit aimed to conduct field inspection, scientific benefit, and learn about the tests and equipment at the center.

The visit included viewing and learning about the center’s laboratories, which included the automated analysis laboratory.

The head of the Environmental Pollution Department, Dr. Mukhaled Amer Hussein gave an introductory summary of the establishment of the center, the administrative structure, and the tasks carried out by the center, including activities and events in general, and touched on the Environmental Pollution Department in particular, from the job descriptions and the laboratories operating in it.

They were explained to the students that the Automated Analysis Laboratory and the Soil and Water Laboratory had obtained the accreditation certificate numbered (TL 012) from the Iraqi Accreditation Authority (IQAS) - Laboratory Accreditation Section - Ministry of Planning in accordance with the specification (ISO/IEC 17025:2005) in the field of testing chemicals and now. On its way to renewal.

The laboratory official, Dr.Rana Riyad Khalil, explained: the nature of the laboratory’s work, the activities it carries out, and how to take the required forms for examination according to the standard specifications approved in laboratories.

Ahmed Haider Sadiq, a member of the laboratory staff, an introductory overview of the atomic absorption measuring device and the scope of work of this device in conducting the necessary tests in the field of estimation of heavy elements in soil and water.

Ahmed Nateqh Ghazi elucidated an introductory explanation of the nature of the laboratory’s work and the examination activities it carries out in the field of soil and water. The visit concluded with the professors and students of the Materials Engineering Department expressing their admiration for what they saw in the laboratories in terms of organization and following the correct regulations in carrying out the tests.
