The most prominent goal of the research was to evaluate the performance of beam array antennas based on partial adaptation algorithms, specifically the PU LMS and NPULMS algorithms. The study aims to address the challenges of reducing the need for phase shifters in uniform linear array elements and implementing subsequent partial filtering, which have not been explored in this context before.
The simulated results in the study showed that the PU LMS and NPULMS algorithms are as effective as the full-scale LMS and NLMS algorithms in terms of mean square error (MSE), tracking ability and rated input signal performance. In addition, the PU algorithms show faster decay time and lower steady-state error level. The main beam shape of PU algorithms is very similar to that of a typical uniform striped array, and it can also reduce noise signals through zero directivity. Moreover, the NPULMS algorithm outperforms the PULMS algorithm in terms of efficiency.
