Computer Engineering Department hold a workshop about Writing of Business Email Skills
 

Computer Engineering Department held a workshop Writing of Business Email Skills according to the instructions of the Department Head, Assist. Lec. Dr.Hassan Jalil Hassan and the supervision of Administrative Deputy Lec. Dr. Ahmed Musa Dinar, and in coordination with Rehabilitation, Employment and Follow-up Division at the University.
Writing of Business Email Skills For senior of the department, attended by Scientific Deputy Assist. Lec. Dr. Ayman Daoud Salman, Mr. Mohammed Abdel Karim Al-Bayati, responsible for Rehabilitation, Employment and Follow-up Division and Director of the Communication Unit at the University and Assit. Lec. Hasna Hassan Abdel Karim and Lec. Dr. Laith Kamel Aday is responsible for the rehabilitation, employment and graduate follow-up unit in the department.
The workshop aimed to develop and qualify students and graduates of the University of Technology to improve their scientific and technical capabilities and support them in a way that suits the requirements of the labor market by providing some services, including Writing of Business Email Skills to enhance their position in the search for a job opportunity.
The first part of the lecture, which was delivered by Mr. Mohammed Abdel Karim Al-Bayati, included the goals and services of the Rehabilitation and Employment Division, describing it as a strategic national project that was established for serving the students and graduates of the University of Technology and qualifying them to engage in the labor market before and after graduation.
Then he talked about the basic steps that enable the graduate to engage in the labor market and communicate with companies, which must be through mastering three important steps:
First: the process of creating an official email to address companies.
Second: how to prepare an employment letter that includes the basic professional goal for the purpose of applying to the company and the technical skills that relate to it the graduate’s study, the skills that apply to the job he is applying for, and the personal skills and strengths of the graduate.
Third: how to write CV, which is preferable to be written after preparing the employment letter because the filtering of applicants’ CVs by companies depends on the employment letter first and then moving on to the applicant’s CV. This affects the process of competition between
applicants for jobs in companies and causes applicants’ CVs to be neglected.
At the conclusion of his lecture, Al-Bayati stressed the necessity of self- development by participating in English language courses and learning English in the business environment and the language of communication in English in the work environment because it is the basic criterion in the process of competing for a job.
The second aspect of the lecture in the workshop was given by Assist. Lec. Hasna Hassan Abdel Karim touched on the importance of e-mail in communicating with companies for engaging in the labor market or in the academic field. She talked about the basic rules for writing e-mail in a professional manner and the benefits of using e-mail whether to communicate with others or to deliver information and attachments to a specific party in a way. Quickly, storing data, recalling specific information, representing the company, communicating in an official manner, using appropriate style in academic correspondence, fixed templates, and brevity in communicating the idea, and concluding with a salutation and signature, explaining not to use official mail for personal purposes and the necessity of paying attention to developing communication skills, writing a CV, and skills in using e-mail before
