Head of Materials Engineering Department Participate in PHD Discussion
Asst.Prof.Dr.Hussein Alaa, head of Materials Engineering Department participated in the membership of PHD discussion of the student Sarah Nabil for her dissertation "Synthesis and Characterization of Advance Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMCS)"
The dissertation dealt with preparing a ceramic composite of zirconia/ alumina- glass adopting a new method that can be used in preparing superimposed bodies for technical and medical applications, the most of them is the dental industry as bridging and crowns. The overlapping samples were sintered in air at 1500C followed by filtration method. The results showed that the increased addition of alumina led to an improvement in the mechanical properties of the ceramic composite due to the nano-alumina base in restricting the growth of the zirconia matrix granules.
The discussion committee was chaired by Prof.Dr.Mohammed Radi and the membership of Prof.Dr.Kareem Ali, Prof.Dr.Gazi Kamal, Prof.Dr.Inas Mohi and Asst.Prof.Dr.Hussein Alaa, Prof.Dr.Shihab Ahmed and Asst.Prof.Dr.Mothafar Ali as supervisors.
