University of Babylon Grant Letter of Appreciation

University of Babylon represented by the dean of Materials Engineering Collage Prof.Dr.Emad Dishar granted a letter of appreciation to the Prof.Dr.Ali Eatewi, a lecturer at Materials Engineering Department at University of Technology, for his efforts in chairing a PHD committee to discuss the dissertation "Study of Mechanical and Electrochemical Properties of Gallium Restorative Alloys"  The student Mohammed Toama viewed in his dissertation designing a new form for the materials of alloys which based on gallium as a potential alternative to dental amalgam to reduce mercury use in alloys which is the main factor in gallium alloys is stretching over the limited as defined by the American Dental Association. To overcome this major factor, some steps were performed starting from reducing the amount of gallium in the alloys which is responsible for expanding the final alloys, then adding ceramic nanoparticles and microelements to alloys. Also adding metallic glass to the low-copper portion of the alloys. The final alloy composition is a mix of metallic glass with a low- copper alloy supported by the ceramic particles added to the lowest amount of liquid gallium alloy to stick the components is the best dentifrice alloys. All mechanical properties proposed by the American Dental Association (compressive strength, displacement, dimensional change) and found that some alloys had passed the limit suggested by them.
