Civil Engineering Department hold a scientific symposium entitled Scientific publishing in refereed journal and assessing the scientific performance of researchers

Under the supervision of the Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Hassan Hamoudi Joni, the Civil Engineering Department held a scientific symposium entitled Scientific Publishing in refereed journal and evaluating the Scientific Performance of Researchers

This symposium comes as part of a series of symposia held by the Civil Engineering Department with the aim of increasing the culture of refereed scientific publishing for the department's lecturers to raise the department's scientific standing.

The symposium aimed to clarify the impact of scientific research outputs and the effective and basic role they play in the progress of societies as honest results of a strenuous research effort that led to what could solve the problems of reality and push in the direction of progress and discovery and invention of what man needs to obtain welfare in its various types.

The symposium dealt with a review of the refereed journals and how to access them and the refereed international repositories for publishing research and how to classify journals globally and give them impact factors, also it touched on plagiarism and its type and ways to avoid it. As well as how to market scientific products and ensure the largest number of citations.

The symposium dealt with predatory journals and publishing houses and their negative impact on damaging the researcher and his academic reputation.

The symposium also included several lectures:

The first lecture: Prof. Dr. Mohammad Youssif Fattah on (publishing in referred journals and assessing the scientific performance of researchers).

The second lecture: Prof. Dr. Maan Salman Hassan on (Plagiarism in Research Journals)

The third lecture: Assist. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Majid Abdel-Aemamah, for (Increase Research Visibility).

Fourth lecture: Assist. Prof. Dr. Ghaida Yassin for

(Problems and challenges of Predatory Journals)
