Civil Engineering Department at UOT discusse MSc thesis

Civil Engineering Department at UOT discussed MSc thesis about "Performance improvement of open-graded asphalt concrete mixtures"

Muhammad Musallam Nehme’s thesis included the evaluation and improving of open asphalt mixtures to determine their suitability for use in various applications. Large-scale laboratory experiments were conducted to evaluate the performance of locally produced porous asphalt mixtures with materials including asphalt binder (40-50) and aggregates with the nominal maximum size gradient (nmas). ) Of 12.5 mm for the surface layer, limestone, dust, Portland cement as a filler for minerals, and styrene butadiene styrene (SBS) in three different proportions (2, 3 and 4)% by weight of asphalt cement and carbon fiber three different ratios (0.2,0.3,0.4)% by weight of the mixture. All porous asphalt mixtures (modified and unmodified) with Portland cement filler type showed better performance than those containing limestone dust filler type. The results showed that addition of polymer and fiber improves rutting. The discussion committee consisted of –
