Seminar entitled (Design Different Fuzzy PID Controller for Single Link Flexible Joint Robotic System Using FPGA)

On Thursday, 10/10/2013, the MSc student Hussein Adheem presented a seminar under the title of “Design Different Fuzzy PID Controller for Single Link Flexible Joint Robotic System Using FPGA” this seminar has concentrated on:
combining Fuzzy Logic controller and PID controller algorithms features (which offers high speed process with simple rules, and the accuracy of PID tuning methods in obtaining the controllers gain values) to design three different Fuzzy-PID structures in FPGA using VHDL code, in order to eliminate the damped oscillations that influence from the flexible Joint Single Link Flexible Robotic System (which is nonlinear and have a complex mathematical model), using the new available technology FPGA features (small device size, cost effective, short time to market, Reliability, Long – Term Maintenance and high speed) to replace controllers that realized as a computer program on general purpose computer
After all, testing the design performance by comparing its results obtained from FPGA with the results obtained from simulation of software – based controller with the same specifications.
The seminar has been attended by the department stuff members as well as the postgraduate students.
