University of Technology Participate in The Agreement on Higher Education and Governorate of Baghdad.

 

OnJune 28, 2021, the President of U.O.T., Prof. Dr. Ahmed M. Hassan Al-Ghabban, participated in the agreement of Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Governorate of Baghdad to support and complete infrastructure projects in universities, enhance their spaces, and launch study programs to develop competencies.

The meeting was held in Baghdad governorate building, in the presence of the Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Nabil Kadhum Abdul-Saheb, the Governor of Baghdad, Engineer Muhammad Jaber Al-Atta, deputy  of the Ministry of Education for Administrative Affairs, the Director General of the Directorate t of Construction and Projects, presidents of many universities and assistants of governor of Baghdad.

The attendees reviewed the university projects in Baghdad and the financial schedule  required for achievement in light of the highest priorities imposed by the current situation and the financial, economic and health challenges.The Governor of Baghdad revealed the governorate tendency to support university institutions, expand their infrastructure and complete their suspended projects according to the contexts set by the federal budget, stressing that development criteria  in cities is related to the presence of university institutions  and their impact on providing scientific circumstances and appropriate educational services.

The Minister of Education clarified that developing universities, supporting their projects, and overcoming obstacles in front of them is enough to address the changes that occur at the scientific, economic, health and social levels and address the population growth indicator, which imposes an annual increasing capacity in universities and colleges and enables academic institutions to achieve their basic function in serving the community and meeting its needs Scientific, researching and advisory

 

Prof.Dr.Abdul-Sahib added that the current situation requires an integrated plan between the universities and the government of Baghdad in the areas of cooperation especially those related to infrastructure projects and expansion plans in academic institutions to cover the scientific needs of the society. Dr. Abdul-Sahib also refers to the teaching staff exercising their tasks at the highest level which requires support by providing requirements of the appropriate housing.

Both the minister of Higher Education and the government of Baghdad declared through a mass conference forming two committees, the first is responsible for issuing plans to enter the plans on the ministry within the projects of the government of Baghdad, while the second is responsible for joining the staff of the government of Baghdad within the programs of fellowships and scholarships and high studies plans to develop the competencies.

Both parties declared about the project of land possession to the educational institutions to handle development projects saying that the universities' projects will be important within the plan of regional development with an estimated cost that may reach to 26 billion.

At the end, both parties express their appreciation to this cooperation and their keen to provide an environment of integration between the state institutions.
