Ph.D. Dissertation in Computer Science Dept. Discusses Extracting Wisdom from English Poetry

A Ph.D. Dissertation in Computer Science Dept. at UOT discussed extracting wisdom from English poetry by (using English text mining and approximate totals theory).

The Dissertation presented by the student/ Safi   A.  Abdul Redha aimed to propose and design an intelligent system that has the ability to read an English poem and extract the wisdom included in the poem.

The Dissertation is considered as the first research done for the purpose of extracting wisdom from English poetry, where it discusses how to employ (Text Mining) techniques with artificial intelligence algorithms such as the (Rough Set Theory) and the (Support Vector Machine) in order to extract wisdom and exhortation. The advice that the poet gives to the recipient through his poem.

The researcher suggested five models of systems depending on several features in order to achieve the goal of the Dissertation.

The researcher concluded that depending on repeated keywords in judgment for the purpose of extracting wisdom from English poetry is a good feature, but it does not achieve high results due to the absence of specific words in writing wisdom. And that depending on the parts of speech is the best advantage for extracting wisdom and it fulfilled the highest results.
