PhD dissertation at the University of Technology discusses the "Preparation and Characterization of Prosthesis Composite Materials for Medical Applications"

PhD dissertation discussed at Materials Engineering Department at UOT tagged "Preparation and Characterization of Prosthesis Composite Materials for Medical Applications""

The PhD dissertation consists of five chapters for student (Alaa Abd Muhammad)

It aimed to consider polyether ketone as a major alternative to replace the biomedical mineral materials used as dental implants, because it has an elastic modulus similar to that of cortical bone, it also discussed improving the performance of polyether ketone.

The researcher reached to incorporate nano titanium dioxide and nanohydroxyapatite into polyether ketone with different weight ratios that were prepared through a series of manufacturing stages.

Shredded carbon fibers were added to the samples having the highest properties while the samples were examined by mechanical, physical and morphological tests with chemical analysis, infrared spectrum analysis and biological tests.

The discussion committee consisted of:

- Prof. Dr. Abbas Khamas Hussein / president

 - Prof. Dr. Kadhim Kamel Resan / member

- Prof. Dr. Abdul Basit Ahmed Fathallah / member

- Prof. Dr. Mohsen Abdullah Al-Shammari / member

- Assist. Prof. Dr. Qahtan Adnan Hamad / members

- Prof. Dr. Emad Saadi Abdel Karim / supervisor

- Assist. Prof. Dr. Jawad Kazem Aliwi / supervisor

- Assist Prof. Dr. Ammar Ali Hassan from the Central Technical University / Engineering Technical College (scientific advisor)

-  Lec.Dr. Rabab Assem Abdel Aziz from UOT (scientific advisor)
