The Electromechanical Engineering Department organizes a workshop on ABET Accreditation Outcomes
The Department of Navigation and Guidance Engineering, in collaboration with the Electromechanical Engineering Department, organized a workshop on ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accreditation outcomes for the department’s faculty members, presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jawad Mohammed.
The workshop emphasized that ABET accreditation is a global standard for ensuring the quality of engineering and technology education at universities and colleges. It aims to assess and improve academic programs to ensure they meet international standards required to prepare qualified engineers for the job market.
ABET relies on a set of educational outcomes that include students' abilities to apply engineering knowledge, analyze problems, design within real-world constraints, as well as professional ethics and effective communication.
The workshop also highlighted the competencies (technical skills, innovation, and practical problem-solving) that this accreditation can offer to engineering specialties, while considering economic, environmental, and social aspects when developing engineering solutions.
It was also noted that ABET accreditation makes it easier for graduates to secure jobs in global companies, register as professional engineers, and pursue graduate studies at prestigious universities.
