Mechanical Engineering Department Organizes Scientific Visit to South Baghdad Second Gas Power Plant
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Technology organized a scientific visit to the South Baghdad Second Gas Power Plant.
This visit, which included fourth-year students from the Power Plants branch, aimed to enhance students' practical understanding of the operating mechanisms of gas power plants, learn about the latest technologies used in the operation and maintenance of turbines, and discuss the engineering challenges facing this type of plant.
The field tour included a detailed explanation by the technical staff on the mechanisms of turbine operation, modern control systems, and periodic maintenance procedures, where students had the opportunity to interact directly by asking questions and discussing the actual challenges faced by workers at the plant.
This visit comes within the strategy of the Department of Mechanical Engineering to enhance applied education, by integrating theoretical information with practical experiences, which contributes to qualifying students for the labor market and enabling them to keep pace with the latest developments in the field of plant engineering.
The students were supervised during the visit by Professor Dr. Ikhlas Muhammad Fayyad, accompanied by a number of faculty members, namely: Assistant Professor Dr. Sahira Hassan Ibrahim, Assistant Professor Dr. Muwaffaq Qasim Shayea, Dr. Muhammad Hisham Abdul-Hur, Dr. Mansour Ali Ismail, Dr. Ibrahim Emad Sadiq, and Mr. Osama Abdul-Manaf Ibrahim.
