Central Library Holds Seminar Entitled "The Importance of Literacy for the Individual and Society"
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghabban, and the supervision of the Director of the Central Library, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ziad Qassem Habib, the Central Library held a seminar entitled "The Importance of Literacy for the Individual and Society," which was delivered by Lect. Dr. Alia Abdul-Redha Abbas and Asst. Lect. Farah Faleh Hassan from the Control and Systems Engineering Department in the Cultural Forum Hall.
The seminar aimed to enable individuals to enhance their ability to read, write and calculate, which opens new doors to learning and knowledge.
It explained that literacy has an important role as it contributes to increasing productivity and individual income, which enhances economic growth, as well as providing opportunities for community awareness and the use of technology in education, such as applications and electronic platforms.
The seminar concluded with the awarding of a certificate of appreciation to the lecturers in recognition and appreciation for holding this seminar.
