A delegation from the Human Rights Commission visit the Department of Biomedical Engineering to enhance cooperation

 

Professor Dr. Sadiq Hussein Bakhi, Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Technology, received a delegation from the Human Rights Commission, which included Professor Dr. Ahmed Thabet Abdul Karim, and Legal Advisor Muhammad Qasim Rashid from the Human Rights Commission to enhance cooperation between the two parties in the fields of training and development, which contributes to spreading the culture of human rights and improving community awareness in academic and administrative institutions.

During the meeting, prospects for cooperation were discussed, as ways to organize specialized training workshops targeting lecturers and employees from various academic and administrative specializations were addressed to enhance knowledge of human rights values ​​and ways to apply them in daily life. Holding workshops and rehabilitation programs targeting training employees on justice and equality concepts were also discussed, enhancing the ability to deal with human rights issues professionally and objectively.

 

In this context, the Head of the Department stressed the importance of this cooperation in establishing a culture of human rights within academic institutions, pointing out the need to enhance this culture through various training programs that reach all categories of university staff. He praised the role of the Commission in spreading community awareness and providing effective support for the implementation of human rights principles, expressing his aspiration to expand the scope of cooperation between the two sides in the future.

For their part, the members of the Commission delegation expressed their full readiness to provide the necessary support to make this initiative a success, by providing the expertise and resources to implement joint training programs, in addition to facilitating the holding of specialized courses that meet the needs of all categories of beneficiaries. They also pointed out the importance of sustainable cooperation between academic institutions and the Commission in preparing awareness programs aimed at improving society's understanding of human rights.

This initiative comes within the department's ongoing efforts to keep pace with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University Presidency and to implement strategies that contribute to consolidating sustainable partnerships with relevant institutions. These steps also represent part of the department's vision to enhance awareness of human rights issues, to achieve the common goals of building an academic and administrative community that enjoys a deep understanding of its rights and duties, which contributes to creating a more interactive and cooperative academic and administrative environment in facing contemporary challenges related to human rights and their protection, and thus building a society that is more aware and appreciative of its rights and the rights of others
