University of Technology Participates in 1st Annual Development and Creativity Festival

 

The Technological University of Technology participated in the first annual Development and Creativity Festival, organized by the Women's Affairs Department in the Minister's Office at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Held at Al-Hakim Hall at the University of Baghdad, the event was attended by the Deputy Minister for Scientific Research, Prof.Dr. Haider Abid Dhahad, numerous Iraqi university presidents, Assistant President of the University of Technology for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Khawlla Salah Khushan, Director of the Women's Affairs Department at the ministry, Dr. Nada Al-Abadi, and professors and staff from various ministries and institutions.

During the festival, the head of the Women's Affairs Unit at the university, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mona Taha Idris, was honored with the "Women and Technology" award by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, represented by the Deputy Minister for Scientific Research. The award was presented alongside representatives from Women's Affairs departments of 89 government and private universities across Iraq.

The festival aimed to empower women, support academic women in various fields, and provide recommendations on the importance of enhancing women's roles in building society and development through a focus on creativity and development. This reflects the Ministry of Higher Education's vision to support women and achieve sustainable empowerment.

Coinciding with the celebration of Arabic Language Day, the festival highlighted the Arabic language as a "female" entity, symbolizing the complementary roles of women and language in building society.

Additionally, the Technological University participated in an exhibition showcasing the handmade products of several creative faculty members and staff, including: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noor Abdul Khaliq khuder, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sajaa Diaa Khadr, Senior Engineer Zeena Ali Abdul Jabbar from the Computer Engineering Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Afaf Abdul Rahman Ayub, Lecturer Ala Hamid Mahmoud, and Lecturer Asmaa Nafe' Badri from the Environmental Research Center, Lecturer Amani Ahmed Hussein from the Center for Energy Technology and Renewable Energy, Lecturer Dhahia Amer Abdul Amir from the Student Activities Department, and Senior Engineer Zeena Rahman Dawood from the Production and Metals Engineering Department. Lecturer Murtadha Ali Joda from the Student Activities Department also participated. The efforts of all participants in contributing to the success of this festival were commended.
