Environmental Research Center at the University of Technology organized a workshop entitled Water Foot Print (WFP) for two days respectively in the presence of the director of the center, Professor Dr. Zainab Bahaa Mohammed, and a number of the center’s lecturers and employees.

The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of the water footprint and its role in achieving environmental sustainability and to enhance awareness of the importance of managing water resources in a sustainable manner.

The Director of the Environmental Research Center stressed the importance of the workshop in enhancing national efforts to protect water resources, noting that the water footprint represents one of the effective tools for achieving sustainable water management and reducing waste.

 The workshop included two sessions; the first session was presented by Assist. Lec. Ali Nasser Ali and Assist. Lec Ola Hamed Mahmoud: An introduction about the concept of the water footprint, the mechanisms for measuring it, its effects on the environment and the economy, and a review of some practical examples of its applications in the agricultural and industrial sectors. In the second session, Lec.Dr. Moayad Naseer Muslim and Assist. Lec. Asma Nafi Badri Practical applications in water footprint and modern irrigation methods in sustainable agriculture, in addition to hydroponics and its future benefits

 The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion session in which ideas and proposals were exchanged on ways to reduce the water footprint and improve the efficiency of water use in various sectors. The participants praised the importance of such workshops in enhancing environmental awareness and developing sustainable policies and practices.

 The workshop is part of a series of activities organized by the Environmental Research Center with the aim of achieving sustainable development and preserving natural resources for future generations.
