Materials Engineering Department holds domestic violence individual and society effects awareness seminar
The Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology held an awareness symposium entitled Domestic Violence and its Effects on the Individual and Society, in the Martyr Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis Hall in the Civil Engineering Department, delivered by Colonel Waleed Khaled Muhammad and Mr. Saif Sabri Qassem from the Community and Teaching Police, asst.L. Haneen Rashid Majeed from the Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance, in the presence of the Assistant President of the University of Technology for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman, the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Jawad Kazem Aliwi, the Administrative Assistant, Assistant Professor Dr. Laith Wadah Ismail, the Administrative Assistant of the Department of Civil Engineering, Professor Dr. Wael Shawqi Abdel-Sahib, and a number of others. Members of the community police, teachers, employees and students of the university.
The symposium included learning about the meaning of domestic violence, its types, the effects that lead to violence, the mission of the community police in reducing this phenomenon, the responsibility placed on the citizen to report incidents of domestic violence, and the psychological effects on the abused individual and on society as a whole.
The symposium concluded with the awarding of certificates of appreciation by the Administrative Assistant to the University President, Prof. Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman and the Head of the Department extended their appreciation to the lecturers for their outstanding efforts.
