The Department of Civil Engineering holds a scientific symposium on modern techniques in protecting pipes in cooperation with the Iraqi Scientific Society in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering

Under the auspices of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Al-Ghabban, the Roads and Bridges Engineering Branch and the Sanitary and Environmental Engineering Branch in the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Technology and in cooperation with the Iraqi Scientific Society in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering held the tagged scientific symposium

Modern techniques in protecting buried pipes.

In the presence of the Assistant President of the Administrative Affairs of the University, Prof. Dr. Hussein Hamid Karim, the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Hassan Hamoudi Jouni, the President of the Iraqi Scientific Society in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering, Prof. Dr. Mahdi Obaid Karkoush, and a large number of teachers, university affiliates and specialists in the central hall of the department.

The symposium aimed to increase interest in the works of burying the pipes in the soil and protecting them to ensure their continuity during the operating period, as they are strategic projects, and the problems that occur in them are engineering problems that cause economic and environmental losses, as they extend to long distances and with different soils.

The symposium began with the recitation of a verse from the Holy Quran and the reading of Surat Al-Fatiha on the souls of the martyrs of Iraq.

The head of the Civil Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Hassan Hamoudi Johnny, during his speech, stressed the importance of paying attention to burial works for pipeline laying projects in the soil, such as projects for the distribution of drinking water and sewage networks.

Then the speech of the President of the Iraqi Scientific Society in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering, Prof. Dr. Mahdi Obaid Karkoush.

The symposium included one session chaired by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Latif Mahmoud and the decision of Prof. Dr. Tariq Abdel Hussein

I took four lectures.

The first lecture on protecting buried pipes using different types of clamps was given by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Youssef Fattah / Department of Civil Engineering.

The second lecture on the implementation problems of buried pipes was given by the consultant engineer, Hamid Hassan Abbas.

And the third lecture on the use of rubble manufactured from tires to protect buried concrete pipes was given by Prof. Dr. Saif Emad Akobi from the College of Engineering, Al-Qadisiyah University
