Electrical Engineering Department hold a scientific symposium about the reality of the national electricity system   

Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Technology held the scientific symposium tagged: (The Reality of the National Electricity System and Development Plans) at the Dihjla hall in the department, in the presence of the Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, Assist. Prof. Dr. Muntadher Sami Shaker, and the head of Communications Engineering Department, Assist. Prof. Dr. Afanin Anwar Abboud, and General Director of Control and Operation Institution, Eng. Yahya Awad Jaber number of faculty staff and postgraduate students who are specialized and interested in the electric sector.

The head of the Electrical Engineering Department opened the symposium with a speech in which he welcomed the participants, researchers and attendees, and shed light on the department’s role in providing the Ministry of Electricity with engineering cadres and engineering consultancies, stressing the need to enhance communication between the University of Technology and the Ministry of Electricity by virtue of the university’s output matching the field of work.

The symposium included several items, including: -

-  The reality of electric energy and the challenges it faces.

- Energy management.

- Development plans, especially the issue of converting the electric power transmission system to 230/69.

This symposium comes as part of a cooperation plan between the University of Technology represented by Electrical Engineering Departments, Communications Engineering Department and the Ministry of Electricity represented by the Operation and Control Institution.

Three research papers were presented at the symposium: -

- First one under the title (the plan of 2040), a proposed study for the development of Iraqi electrical system by engineers Alaa Badai and Muthanna Abdul Karim.

- Second one about communications system in the Iraqi electrical network by Eng. Hamid Abdullah Attia.

 - last one about the special protection system in real time using the communications system for engineers Jabbar Haider and Fatima Waheed.

there were many questions, inquiries and scientific interventions, and it was agreed to present development plans to the scientific and advisory committees in the Electrical Engineering Department for studying and recommending or adopting them as research projects for postgraduate students to contribute to improving the reality and efficiency of electrical energy in light of the circumstances and challenges facing the electricity sector in Iraq.
