The Environmental Research Center holds a workshop on the obesity treatment protocol
The Department of Sustainable Development at the Environmental Research Center at the University of Technology held a workshop entitled Obesity Treatment Protocol under the supervision of the Director of the Center, Professor Dr. General by the specialist doctor Dr. Abdul Hamid Salem Al-Barrak.
The workshop aimed to pay attention to the global trend to achieve the 17 sustainable development goals, and to achieve the third goal of them (good health and well-being).
The lecturer indicated the need to give advice through the influence of obesity by a number of factors, which result from eating an excessive amount of calories that are usually in excess of the body's needs.
These factors may include physical inactivity, diet, genes, lifestyle, ethnic and socioeconomic background, exposure to certain chemicals and conditions, and use of certain medications.
He added, "Obesity increases the risk of many disorders such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and some types of cancer, and may lead to premature death."
He concluded by emphasizing to seize the opportunity with regard to the nutritional aspect to raise the level of nutritional culture in the university cadres and transfer it to the community by correcting the wrong habits and behaviors practiced by some people and the ways to treat them.
