The Department of Materials Engineering discusses a master's thesis on the sintering behavior of ceramic materials containing different flux materials

A master thesis discussed in the Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology tagged:

Sintering Behavior of Ceramics Containing Different Fluxing Agents

Student Hoda Star Ali  thesis aimed to prepare porcelain samples from different compositions and the possibility of adding different flux materials, including (waste glass, fluorescent candles, borax) to porcelain samples in different proportions as an alternative to potassium feldspar and studying its effect on sintering behavior, microstructure, physical properties, mechanical and thermal conductivity. For porcelain samples. The results showed that increasing the percentage of potassium feldspar in porcelain samples led to improved physical and mechanical properties and decreased thermal conductivity. The addition of flux materials led to a decrease in the sintering temperature to (1000) when adding 5 wt%. From waste fluorescent candle-glass to (950) when adding 5 wt.% Of borax, compared to samples without addition that required a sintering temperature of (1225) to obtain appropriate physical and mechanical properties. When increasing the percentage of flux in the porcelain samples to 10 wt%, it led to the formation of closed pores in the samples, and this led to a decrease in the physical and mechanical properties of the porcelain samples.

The discussion committee consisted of Prof. Aseel Basem Abdul Hussein as president and

Prof.D. Sarmad Emad Ibrahim and Prof.D. Hamza Mustafa Kamal, members and Prof. Saad Badri Hassoun Farid and Prof. Hussein Alaa Jaber, supervisors and Prof.D. Ahmed Fadel Ali scientific  reviewer and Prof.D. Samir Ali Amin is a linguistic reviewer .
