Dept. of Materials Engineering is Discussing a Master Thesis on Adopting Electrostatic Spraying To Prepare a Coating layer of composite materials

A master's thesis has been discussed in Dept. of Materials Engineering at UOT entitled:

"Adopting Electrostatic Spray Method to Prepare Coated Layer of Composite Materials"

Adopting the electrostatic spray method to prepare a coating layer of composite materials.

The thesis of the student/  Rasha Abdul Hassan Issa aimed to use polymethyl metha-acrylate powder to prepare bio composite coatings by electrostatic spraying on 316 L stainless steel as substrates. Different weight ratios were mixed from the dry powders to form a compound mixture consisting of (5, 10, 15 and 20 wt%) of aluminum oxide and titanium oxide with (95, 90, 85 and 80 wt%) of PMMA as a base material.

The added ceramic powders were studied on four groups, and samples of all groups were treated at a temperature of (140) for a period of (one hour), namely: A, B, C and D. Coating surface shapes, grain size, chemical compositions, Vickers' micro hardness, adhesion, ion release, infrared scanning and differential scanning calorimeter examination of the composite polymeric coating layers were diagnosed.

The discussion committee consisted of:-

1-  Asst. Prof. Dr. Kadhum M.  Shabib / Chairman

2-  Prof. Dr. Alaa A. Abdul-Hamid and Lect. Dr. Ahmed N. Hadi/ Members

3- Asst. Prof. Dr. Hanaa A. Smeich and Lect. Dr. Muhannad Najah Jawad/ Supervisors

4-  Prof. Dr. Khaled M.  Aweid from Al-Mustansiriya University as a scientific reviewer

5- Lect. Dr. Rabab A. Abdel Aziz as a linguistic reviewer
