Civil Engineering Department Grant MSC
Civil engineering department at University of Technology granted MSC to the student Israa Jabbar for her thesis "Effect of Nanosilica particles on polypropylene polymer modified asphalt mixture performance"
The thesis was about using the physical and marshal stability tests to assess the properties of compound modified asphalt (NSCPMA) and the performance characteristics of the mixer and compare it with pure asphalt and polypropylene modified asphalt. The storage stability of modified asphaltwith nanocomposite polypropylene was also examined. The indirect tensile strength and moisture sensitivity test were examined, and permanent deformation resistance.
It can be concluded that the polymer combined with nanosilica used in this study enhanced all the properties of asphalt and the performance of asphalt mixture except for sensitivity to moisture which showed a negative effect and need more studies in future.
The discussion committee was chaired by Prof.Dr.Amjad Hammad and the membership of Asst.Prof.Dr.Shatha Sadiq and Asst.Prof.Dr.Zainab Ibrahim, Lect.Dr.Ammar Abbas and Lect.Dr.Rasha Hassan as members and supervisors.
