The Environmental Research Center holds a seminar on the combined technology of advanced oxidation and membrane separation for industrial wastewater treatment

The Environmental Research Center at the University of Technology held a seminar with integrated technical titles from advanced oxidation and membranous separation to treat industrial wastewater. Through which the lecturer, Dr. Khaled Khalil Amer from the Environmental Pollution Department at the center gave a lecture in which he discussed the presence of many organic chemical pollutants in industrial wastewater, which is characterized by its strong resistance to traditional treatment methods (such as biological treatment - the cheapest and most widely used environmentally friendly method) Consequently, it will pass through the stages of this treatment to the environment, which poses a real threat to it. Therefore, efficient methods of treatment characterized by their ability to treat these resistant (rebellious) pollutants must be used for the protection of the environment. Advanced oxidation processes are a basic solution to this problem as they work to produce free hydroxyl radicals that are characterized by oxidative strength (electrical oxidation potential) as they break down these pollutants either partially and turn them into a wide spectrum of short organic acids that are easy to lead to biological treatment or entirely To carbon dioxide, water and some inorganic ions as final products. There are many advanced oxidation methods in real applications, and each method has its pros and cons. In general, the efficiency of these methods increases when they are linked with membrane separation processes to form integrated technologies, as these technologies are characterized by their ability to improve the quality of wastewater to comply with environmental requirements.
