Within the activities of scientific and cultural activity of the first semester of the Department of Chemical Engineering for the academic year 2019-2020 doctoral student (Saja Mohsen Jabbar) gave a lecture entitled:

Application of Nanoporous Material in a Membrane Adsorption Reactor (MAR) as an Integral System for Removal of Pollutant from Wastewater

Using nanomaterials in the membrane adsorption reactor (MAR) as an integrated system to remove contaminants from wastewater

On the Al-Khwarizmi Hall in the presence of the Chairman of the Department of Chemical Engineering Khaled Ajami Sukkar, suffering and heads of branches and a number of teachers and employees and students of masters and doctorates on Thursday, 10/9/2019.

The researcher explained that (adsorption systems - membranes) or so-called hybrid membranes as an integrated system of global interest, the research aims to prepare and diagnose nanomaterials MCM-41)) in order to assess its activities as adsorbents to remove organic pollutants, especially dyes from wastewater using the process of adsorption system and diet Continuous and then conduct membrane experiments and then compare the results with the hybrid system.

Granting the Central Agency for Standardization and Quality Control in the Ministry of Planning Teaching at the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Rahik Ismail Ibrahim of the Department of Electromechanical Engineering and Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahim Thiab Hammoud of the Department of Electrical Engineering and in conjunction with senior engineer Najat Abdul Zahra Issa from the Ministry of Planning Department Government Investment Patent for "Design and Implementation of Automatic Control Circuit to Avoid Sediment and Improve Energy Efficiency in Steam Boilers".

The invention relates to improving the energy efficiency of steam boilers through the design and manufacture of an automatic control system to control the limestone salts formed within the boiler water during the process of steam production and the recovery of energy lost from water discharged during surface blowdown. According to this invention, the salt concentration within the boiler water is controlled by an electronic control circuit which analyzes the measured signals of the salt concentration using a conductivity measuring device and compares those signals with predetermined reference points to represent the minimum and maximum concentrations allowed within the steam boiler room and when the total concentration arrives. For the dissolved salts to the upper limit, the control circuit generates a signal to activate the work of the boiler blow-off water discharge valve with flow control device to determine the flow rate of the discharged water. The minimum allowable concentration, where the control circuit generates a signal to close the discharge valve

Prof. Dr. Raheq Ismail Ibrahim and Manal Kadhim Odeh from the Department of Electromechanical Engineering at the University of Technology and in association with six Hawra Sultan Salman Baghdad received a patent from the Ministry of Planning, the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control for (design and manufacture of low-cost system to absorb the wave Pressure in pipelines carrying Iraqi crude oil))

The idea is to reduce and absorb the pressure wave at the beginning and end of operation of crude oil pumps and derivatives in pipes, where this pressure wave causes the crack and collapse of the pipe over time. The proposed (innovative) system aims to protect and prolong the life of these pipes by designing, manufacturing and testing a low-cost system that disperses and reduces the pressure wave generated and terminated without affecting the flow of crude oil inside the pipe. The system consists mainly of a filter (wave absorption filter) is a tube with a diameter (0.5, 1 and 2 Ang), where three diameters and a length of 18 cm were tested in which glass and ceramic gaskets of different diameters act as a porous material that absorbs the kinetic energy of the fluid particles The oil of the filter has faded the pressure wave it was carrying.
