Materials Engineering Department at the University of Technology grants MSc to the student Ahmed A. Saker for his tagged thesis (Optimization of mechanical properties of the friction mixing welding of two types of aluminum alloys).

The research dealt with frictional mixing welding which is one of the solid-state welding processes and is considered a relatively modern method for welding aluminum alloys similar and non-similar including alloys (5xxx) and (6xxx) series. In this study, the process of friction mix welding was carried out on sheets of aluminum alloys similar and different (AA2024-T3) and (AA6061-T6) with thickness (3.5mm), three different rotation speeds for welding tool (710, 1000, 1400 rpm). A tapered welder was used with three different diameters (12, 14, 16 mm), tilt angle of three-degree (1o, 2o, 3o) and three welding directions (1, 2, 3 times). Several tests such as tensile testing and bending testing were conducted to evaluate the quality of welds and welding safety. Microscopy and hardness were performed on the cross section of the welds in order to study the microstructure and hardness of different welding areas. The SEM-EDS test was used to study the fracture surface after tensile testing of similar and different friction mixing welded samples. Control of quality is possible during the FSW process under ideal conditions under consideration Taguchi Methodological Methods and logic (Fuzzy) based on the required functions. It has been applied to many FSW data of aluminum alloys to achieve better mechanical properties. The quality characteristics (tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, microscopic hardness, durability and friction resistance) have been improved at the same time. The input data are (diameter, rotational speed, linear velocity, tilt angle, and welding direction). At first, the best solution was found for a single target using the Taguchi method and then the optimal multiple targets were combined into a single MPI using Fuzzy based on the desired function to avoid distrust, impression and ambiguity and then imhttps://translate.google.iq/?hl=ar&tab=wTprove (Fuzzy) in this research work. Gradations of this optimal system were obtained using the Taguchi method. Optimal factors and carbonization data were calculated on a multi-performance index (MPI) using response tables, response graph and variance analysis (ANOVA).
