Environmental pollution becomes a global problem which requires from all nations to participate significantly within international community to deal with such problem. Iraqi environment suffers from huge hazards and problems due to the damages inflicted its infrastructure through the past decades that leads to erosion of their original components seriously. Therefore, this center was established in 2004 in accordance of regulation No. (1)/1995 concerning to the research centers of Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to deal and protect local environment and ecosystem so as to sustain all life resources. The center works hard to search in mechanism of scientific cooperation with establishments and organizations that deal with the Iraqi environment issue. This scientific cooperation will develop the work and research ability of the center, as well as train and qualify its technical and academic staffs.
