The First Course Exams

The President of The University of Technology Opened a New Building for Department of Materials Engineering

On 12/01/2016, Prof. Dr. Amin Douai Thamer (President of The University of Technology) opened a new building for Department of Materials Eng. in the presence of Assistant Prof. Dr. Jawad Kadhim Oleiwi (The head of department), Assistant Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdulhasan Atiyah (UOT Vice President for Scientific Affairs) and some academic staffs from the same department. This building contains halls for lectures, laboratories and rooms for academic staff.

Participation

A group of teachers of the Department of Materials Engineering (Mirvat Mehdi Hnoos, Mina Faisal Khudair, Sahar Hussein Ahmed) Subscribe in the civil defense course which were held in the General Directorate of Civil Defense for two weeks from the date of 20/12/2015.

On 10/01/2016, Assist. Prof. Dr. Saad B. H. Farid & Assist. Lec. Shatha R. A. On 11/10/2015, Al Gamaiya Channel highlighted the patent of many academic staff from Materials eng. Department. This channel met Assi. Prof. Dr. Rana A. Majed, Lec. Dr. Mohammed A. Hussein and Assis. Lec. Hiba Anwer to talking about the patent “Ethanolic extract of cinnamon stems as inhibitor in oil medium”. The meeting focused the important of the study, what is the benefited side, the difficulty of the experimental work, availability of instruments and the results which obtained through adding four different concentrations of extract and the protection efficiency obtained at service temperatures of light naphtha unit in Al-Dura refinery. In the end of meeting, the head of department “Assistant Prof. Dr. Jawad K. Oleiwi talked about the scientific support to increase scientific sobriety for researches.

Ethanolic extract of cinnamon stems as inhibitor in oil medium.
This patent discusses the using of natural material as inhibitor in petroleum medium obtained from Al-Dura refinery as a part of applying new technology consists of green chemistry and sustainability by adding available locally materials with safety for users in oil field.
