A Faculty Member at Department of Electrical Engineering as a Chairman of Examining Committee at Al- Mustansiriayah University/ College of Engineering

Prof. Dr. Hanan A. R. Akkar has been participated as a Chairman of Examining Committee for M.Sc. thesis entitled "Face Identification Based on Contourlet Transform and Multi-Layer Perceptron Classifier " by  Ali Fattah Hassoon at  Al- Mustansiriayah University  Department of Electrical Engineering  on Thursday 3/11/2016. In this thesis, the researcher proposed  a face identification system based on CT, and Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) Classifier, where the face recognition plays an important role in many applications such as; security, access to restricted areas, banking identity verification and recognition of wanted people at airport….etc.  Useful properties of the Contourlet Transform (CT) are exploited in this thesis to investigate more discriminant features to enhance the face identification performance The main reasons behind using the CT are supports progressive data compression/ expansion and features in human face are not just horizontal or vertical.
