Five faculty members of Building and Construction department were sent to the USA

to participate in the program of giving the training certificate in the

construction industry within the mechanism of cooperation

 with the Organization of IREX.

The team consisted of Dr. Maan Salman Hassan as a team leader and with the membership of:

Dr. Tareq Saleh Hadi, Dr. Walid Abdul Razak Abbas,

Dr. Qais Jawad Freeh, and Dr. Sarmad Shafiq Abdel Kader.

The team visited the American Concrete Institute (ACI),

which grants the Certification Program (CP) that authorizes local constitutions

to work with them to provide this certificate signed by the (ACI).

The representatives of the University of Technology have successfully

gotten the authorization to give this certificate after passing a theoretical and practical course.

This training course involved two categories:

Technicians of insitu inspection for concrete – first level,

which is the program that each laboratory engineer is required to get its certificate

in order to be able to work in the laboratories of the construction projects’ sites.

The second is called "private detective in construction of concrete",

that is, a special program employed in the examination of the engineering documents

for a project and its technical parts.

The latter program is less prevalent for being more specialized than the first program.

The team also visited the University of North Carolina

and met the head and the staff of Civil, Architectural,

and Environmental Engineering to discuss their experience in the implementation

of this program to take the advantage of it and transfer this experience

to the University of Technology.
