The following is a brief summary of the Department’s activities:
1. Delegating (inside and outside Iraq): It is an important and
fundamental aspect of the development of various scientific
sides. It includes participating in scientific seminars,
workshops, conferences, seminars, specialized researches and
participation in cultural and scientific events of interest to
the university.
2. Scholarships to obtain higher degrees (MSc and PhD) in
various engineering and scientific specialties at the
university’s different departments as needed.
3. Scholarships granted to Iraq in accordance with the
agreements concluded with universities and Arab organizations to
get higher academic degrees in various disciplines.
4. Study leaves to obtaining Master and PhD degrees according to
the actual need of the University and according to the powers
given to it for the purpose of filling vacancies and updating
the required specialties.
5. Sabbatical leave for teaching staff to complete scientific
research outside Iraq.
6. Research studies and research scholarships for postdoctoral
researchers to receive the post-doctoral degrees which include
short and long term studies, according to the regulations and
instructions approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and
Scientific Research.
7. Lending the services to the teachers and providing the Arab
universities with the teaching expertise of our university
staff.
8. Implementation and completion of scientific research projects
through the development and improvement of teaching staff
outside Iraq in accordance with the program of the ministry for
holders of higher academic degrees from Iraq who cannot travel
abroad in order to have access to and benefit from modern
technologies to expand scientific and cultural abilities.
9. Implementation of the ministerial program for research
scholarships for MSc and PhD students as well as professors
supervising those students who are nominated for such
scholarships when they complete 25% of their researchs in Iraq.
10. Execution of the program needed to develop the competencies
of the employees such as technicians and administrators who wish
to obtain higher certificates in the postgraduate studies. The
program of the channel of the extinguished employees to get
secondary school degrees and diploma in order to obtain BSc
inside and outside the university.
11. Establishing agreements, memorandums of understanding in and
outside Iraq with different Iraqi, Arab and foreign universities
and monitoring the follow-up procedures of their activation.
12. Participating in the activities held by international
organizations and the Union of Arab Universities and Islamic
Universities.
13. Completing and following-up the annual scientific plan of
the university.
14. Following-up of the university curriculum.
15. Implementation and following-up the decisions and
recommendations of the Scientific Committee for University
Affairs.
16. Following-up and coordination of training and development
courses for university employees.
17. Following- up the joint-work program with universities and
other sectors in the country and send its periodical reports to
the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
18. Following-up of the programs of Science-Day, University
Establishment Anniversary, and University Badge.
19. Following-up and coordination of the work of the
subcommittees related to the department, namely, the Human
Rights Committee, the Committee of Psychological and Educational
Supervision, the Scholarships and study leaves, the University
Committee for Scientific Affairs.
20. Contributing effectively in the preparation of some
scientific and cultural conferences.
21. Following- up the process of writing, translating and
editing books in addition to the patents granted to teaching
staff and employees of the university.
22. Coordinating of computer literacy courses for university
employees organized by the Center of Electronic Computing.
23. The Program of rehabilitation and training of employees of
Iraqi universities within the framework of the Qatari grant to
send Iraqi teachers to different international universities.
24. Participating in the conferences held by the university, its
scientific departments and centers.
