The Technology hold a scientific symposium about the sustainable management of Iraqi Marshes

The Engineering Branch of water and hydraulic institutions of Building and Construction Engineering Department at the University of Technology held a scientific symposium tagged "Sustainable Management of Iraqi Marshes" in collaboration with recovery marshes and Iraqi wetland center in the presence of the University President Prof.Dr. Amin Douai Thamer in the late hall Prof.Dr. Hussein Mohammed Hussein.
The seminar aimed to increase the scientific and cultural awareness about the wetlands in Iraq, and to discuss the problems and obstacles that hinder the development of the marshes, and highlight towards sustainable management of the marshes.
The seminar dealt with four important items: the first for the integrated management of lands in Iraq, and the second management of water resources of the Euphrates River basin southern Iraq, the third one for monitoring techniques, hydraulic and environmental assessment, and the last one is about, sustainable environmental management of the marshes.
And it is given seven lectures in the symposium about the integrated management of wetlands delivered by lect. Samira Abed Shabib, theGeneral Director of Iraqi marshes and wetlands Center, and the role of the Advisory Office of University of Technology in supporting and development the integrated management of Iraqi marshes given by the office manager at the University assist.Prof.Dr. Hasaneen Mohammed Hassan. Waterresources Managementof Euphrates River basin in southern of Iraqgiven by assist.Prof.Dr.Thaer Sharif Khyoun of water and hydraulic institution engineering branch. And The conceptual vision of management of sustainable wetlands in Iraq, delivered by Miqdad al-Khatib from Environmental Research Center at the University of Technology, and a lecture on the mathematical model of monitoring stations design in Iraqi Marshes given by assist.Prof.Dr. Mahmoud Saleh al-Khafaji, the Head of Water Engineering hydraulic institutionBranch, employing radar techniques to detect variation in the Iraqi marshes for Lec.Dr.Amjad Nasser Mohsen from remote sensing unit in the department. The lecture ended Mrs. Sura Abdul Hameedfrom Iraqi revive marshes and wetlands Center about (sustainable management requirements of marshes).
