TRIBOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF MINERAL AND PLANT
OIL BLENDS

in this thesis It has been verifying properties of four different types of plant oils and eco-friendly trying to use them as substitutes for (hydraulic and pneumatic system lubricants) being biodegradable, and have been studying the impact of the blending rate of these oils with commercial mineral oils (SAE30-10) in the performance of reciprocating air system (pneumatic system air compressor machine) as well as the use of device (Four ball tester) and using the (design of experiments (DOE) method and (image processing technique) as a new method of analysis in the field of mechanical engineering results were analyzed. And it has been adopted the US standard (ASTM D4172-B) to conduct all tests.
The results showed outstanding performance ratios for specific blending of these oils by giving a smaller scar diameter, the rotation torque friction coefficient of friction as these ratios given the highest value for the temperature coefficient of the flash compared with pure mineral oil.
