Teachers from the Technologically getting a patent about the manufacture of mechanical device to simulate the standard of the soil compaction device

Each of Prof.Dr. Mohammad Yousif Fattah, assist.Prof.Dr. Falah Hassan Rahil assist.Prof.Dr. Mohamed Abdul Latif Mahmood, and assist.Prof.Dr. Hussam Hiqmat Baqer, from roads and bridges Branch at Building and Construction Engineering Department at the University of Technology have got a patent from Central device for Standardization and control in the Ministry of planning for manufacturing a mechanical device to simulate the standard of the soil compaction device
The examination compaction is considered one of the important lab testing to identify the properties of the soil, including non-trapped and affordability foundations compression resistance.
It has been manufactured in this studying, a simple mechanical device to simulate examination slandered compaction device (Proctor) by facilitating the mechanism of the ways to obtain energy equivalent opportunities in a simpler methods. And then it has been conducting a number of laboratory tests on different soils and a comparison is made between testing results of compaction of new device and testing results of compaction device the (Proctor) and the results were very encouraging, where it was found that there is a good convergence between relation curves, moisture content and dry density, and it is found the biggest difference in the great dry density is 1.6% and in the optimum moisture content is 7.1%.
The new device includes uniform distribution of the strikes on compacted soil sample and thereby achieve the compaction energy into the equation. As the number of strikes in each layer (Nb) will actually be achieved other than checking the standard penetration (Proctor), as amended, where strikes are distributed on the compacted soil sample and this distribution is difficult to ensure that being a regular when using manual compaction hammer.
