The University of Technology students achieved a scientific achievement by obtaining a third place ofChampionship World for the American Concrete Institute ACI

The University ofTechnology students achieved unprecedented achievement of two students Majed Jinan Kamel and Al-Hassan Imad Musa from the Building and Construction Engineering Department at the University under the supervision of Assist.Prof.Dr. Maan Hassan Salman third place on the World Championship of students' graduate projects related to concrete announced by the American Concrete Institute ACI on his website for their project "manufacturingcompound concrete subsistence Eco-friendly"
The project of New Brunswick University from Canada achieved the first rank;the second rank was the share of Duke University project in the United States.
The University of Technology president Prof. Dr. Amin Douai Thamer said that this achievement is the first of its kind for Iraqi students in a competition just like that. Congrats for Iraq, Iraqis, the University of Technological, thewinner students’ and their supervisors this great scientific achievement.

Assist.Prof.Dr. Maan Hassan Salman said (the project supervisor),the project aims manufacturingcompound concrete subsistence Eco-friendlyby get benefit from agricultural residues of palms in the preparation of cellulose fibers and mixed with concrete subsistence in multiple rates and processed in two ways: heat treatment, and Autoclavetreatment.
Then he said that the results showed mechanical properties "compressive and tensile" of heat treatedmodels and both 7 and 28 daysexamination, was higher than Autoclavetreatment models. It is possible the reason of thatis themodels immersion in hot water helped to achieve greater hydration of cement.
