Environment Research Center Held a Seminar Titled “The Use of Algas As a Source of Biofuels”

Within the educational season hosted by the Environment Research Center at the University of Technology , thirteen seminar held in which a lecture titled” The Use Of Algae As A Source Of Biofuels” was delivered by Dr.Azhar Mahmod Halim with the presence of the Director of the Center Prof.Dr. Hameed Mohammed Jawad in addition to the number of faculty staff and the employees of the center on 22June 2016 at the blue hall.
The lecture dealt with the adoption of biofuel production by using living organisms, whether plant or animal, where the biofuel is considered one of the most important renewable energy source, unlike other natural resources such as oil, coal and fossil. Biofuel is also known as clean energy .recently , algae has been used to produce biofuels as they contain high amount of oils and more than the amount in the economic plants, as a result, they give more energy than the plant. The most important properties of this biofuel is its non-toxicity ,which it is less toxic than common salt .It dissolves naturally and faster than sugar reducing the dual-dioxide emissions of carbon and reduces the smog.
