President of the University of Technology opens Iraq's universities chess championship for the Central District

 President of the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Amin Douai Thamer al-Tamimi opened competitions of Iraq Universities chess Championship for the Central District for students on Sunday, November 16th at the professors Hall at the University of Technology with the participation of 11 teams of male students and five teams of female students representing universities and private colleges.
The president of the university welcomed heads and members of delegations participating in the tournament university at campus and wished them fair competition.

He said in a Technical Conference Championship that the sport is a large youth title and the countries development is measured by sports events as there are poor countries, but they have become known worldwide due to their players, adding that we are proud of our youth in all areas.

The technical conference was held at the Department of Control and Systems Engineering in the presence of Administrative Assistant to the President of the University of Technology assistant professor Dr. Sami single Hasnawi and managing by director Dr Munir Mahmoud, head of Department of Physical Education and artistic activity.

The president distributed Shield of tournament on teams while the Director of the Department of Physical Education and technical activity at the University presented Shield of tournament to the president, scientific and administrative deputies and director of media and public relations department at the university.


Baghdad and technology in the forefront



The two teams of Baghdad and technology successfully lead Students competions at end of the first and second rounds, lifting their credit to 4 points when the former win on the team of Mustansiriya University 3-1 and on the Yarmouk College 4. zero while technological players won on the players of Baghdad College of Economic Sciences team 3.5 - 0.5 and on Central technical University 4-zero, the team of Diyala University is in third place with 3 points as a result of a draw with the team of Iraqi University 2-2 and its win over the University of Alnahrein3.5 - 0.5.

Four teams shared the fourth place with two points as Al Yarmouk College beated Alrafedeen College 4. zero and Mustansiriya University beated Baghdad College of Economic Sciences, while Iraqi University and the College of Mamoon were able to get two points with a draw in the second round 2-2 before the same score in the first round, the former with the University of Diyala and the latter with Al Nahrain University team that has one point, where as the teams of Alrafedeen College ,baghdad College of Applied Sciences Central Technical University were not able of achieving any positive result.

The female players of Mustansiriya and Iraqia universities successfully lead competitions of female students with 3 points after their draw in the first round 2-2 and the former win on the team of the University of Technology and the latter on the team of the University of Diyala 4. Zero , Baghdad University team comes in third with two points from win at Diyala University 4- zero.

The referees of tournament were the international Ismail Ibrahim and Asef Abdullah, members of Baghdad Union branch of chess and Kefah Salim, federal referee, and under the supervision of Dr. Mahmoud Nemah.
