The first conference of the partnership between
the German DAAD , the German Universities and
Iraqi Universities was done at Erbil
on
Oct 20th
2009.
Delegation was headed by Vice President for
Scientific Affairs of the University of
Technology Dr. Ahmed Moosa and the following
professors: |

1. Dr. Sabah
Tariq Ahmed / Head of Department of Mechanical
Engineering .
2 . Dr. Mahmoud Al Shammari / Head of Computer
Engineering and Information Technology.
3 .Dr. Salah Karim Jaouad / Head of Production
Engineering and Metallurgy.
4. Dr. Salah Al Qaraawi / Department of Control
and System Engineering.
5. Dr. Azal Riffat / Production Engineering and
Metallurgy Department . |

The conference has the following sessions:

1. Mechanical Engineering session .
2. Information Technology session.
3. Economy session.
4. Geology session.
5. Urban Planning session . |

The session of
Mechanical Engineering was chaired by Vice
President for Scientific Affairs of the
University of Technology Dr. Ahmed Moosa, and
the German side was headed by Professor Bast .
The meeting was attended by , Dean of college of
Engineering at the University of Salahuddin,
Dean of the college of Engineering at the
University of Diyala, head of Mechanical
Engineering and head of Production Engineering
and Metrology and Dr. Azal Riffat
from the University of Technology . They
discussed the working paper for cooperation
between the University of Frieberg, Germany and
the University of Technology and the University
of Salahuddin. |

Eleven items were discussed include the
following:
1. Missions granted to students at the
University of Technology, Master's and Doctoral
students in the Department of Production
Engineering and Metrology and Mechanical
Engineering department .
2. Cooperation in research scholarships.
3. Training of technicians and engineers.
4. Allocation of funds for the buying of
equipment and books.
5. Summer training.
6. Work to unify the curriculum so that the
degree offered by University of Technology, and
the University of Frieberg, Germany are the same
(long-term plan).
7. A memorandum of understanding between the
University of Technology and the University of
Frieberg, Germany will be signed (copy attached
). |

The conference was
attending of by the Minister of Higher
Education and Scientific Research in Kurdistan
and the President of the University of
Salahuddin, the German consul in Kurdistan and
by Iraqi Universities professors. And Dr.
Ahmed Ali Moosa was chosen as a
representative of the Iraqi Universities . |

There is a
Quotation that says "If you give man bread you
nourish him once, if you teach him to plan you
nourish him for ever.
We are so honored to be here. As a professor
usually I don’t give good grades to students but
this time I am going to give excellent grade to
the Members of German team ,to my
colleagues and to all those who organize this
conference. This conference is entitled First
Program partner conference of DAAD university
Partnership program with Iraq.
In mechanical Engineering session we met with
German group headed by Prof. Jurgen Bast from
Technical University Freiberg and our team
headed by Dr. Ahmed Moosa , vice president for
scientific affairs University of Technology,
Baghadad Iraq. In this meeting there will MOU
between the Freigberge University and the
University of Salahaddin and the University of
Technology. There will be M.Sc. and Ph.D
scholarship for students from the University of
Technology. Also some of our technician will be
trained in Germany. There is along term plan
that we will work one which is called Double
degree which means that the Degree offered by
university of Technology will be equivalent to
the degree offered by Freiberg University.
There will be some fund for equipment and
books. Thank you all .

education is crucial in eradicating the ignorance that exists on

We are so
honored to be here for the First Program partner conference of
DAAD university Partnership program with Iraq. Erbil Oct 20/21
2009.
This agreat celebration with our friends German scientists. This
is the most distinguished conference that I ever attended. This
conference is very informative. Every body here is so friendly.
Although we have been here for two days but we feel that we have
known these people for years.
There are five sessions: Information Technology, Geology, and
Regional and spatial planning, Mechanical Engineering and
Economics. This is the beginning of German- Iraqi scientific
Cooperation. We thank all the German scientists and staffs who
organized this conference, Thanks to his Excellency the Minister
of higher education -Kurdistan for his hospitality. Thanks to
President of the University of Salahaddin hospitality. Thanks to
everyone who makes this conference so successful. Thank you
all. |
