Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Technology participate in the IREX Higher Education Conference in Iraq

 

A number of faculty at the Department of Electrical Engineering, who are Asst.Prof. Dr. Dhari Yousif Mahmood Head of Department, Dr. Afaneen Anwer Abbood Head of Electrical Engineering Division, and VLES team have been participated in the IREX-IRAQ Higher Education conference which is held in Baghdad for the period from 26-28 of September 2016. The conference was opened by the Minster of Higher Education Prof Dr. Abdul Razzaq Al-Issa in the presence of the University of Technology Chancellor Prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir and number of Heads of Departments at University of Technology in addition to a number of the faculty from other Iraqi Universities.

IREX, in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is hosting this conference to focus on how higher education can support economic development and creating a stronger workforce in Iraq. During the second day of this conference, head of VLES team at the Department of Electrical Engineering Dr. Oday A Ahmed explained the importance of teaching and learning through using the virtual learning environment and how this system can improve the higher education in Iraq. He is listed a brief description for the activates that have been achieved by the VLES member during the support period which resulted in the adoption of the system by the University of Technology in addition to activating collaboration between University of Technology and Ball-state University in USA by signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities, which includes cooperation in various fields. In the closing day of the conference Certificates of attendance have been be distributed by the Senior Technical Advisor in IREX Dr Lori Mason in the presence of the VLES project coordinator Prof Dr Kenneth Holland from Ball-state University.
