Seminar entitled (Authentication & Encryption of SMS)

On Sunday, 27/10/2013, the MSc student Fatima Asad presented a seminar under the title of “Authentication & Encryption of SMS” this seminar has concentrated on:
Short message service is a service provided by GSM network, considered to be one of the simplest ways to communicate, it has grown in popularity and used in different fields, some requires transferring sensitive information that must be secured. The security requirements of mobile networks are authentication, confidentiality, integrity and non-repudiation.
The proposed solution is a hybrid scheme of cryptography algorithm (RSA) that fulfills the mobile security requirements and hashing algorithm (HMAC-SHA 256 random bit) that provide message authentication, thus leading to achieve the required objectives.

The seminar has been attended by the department stuff members as well as the postgraduate students.
